Polkadot Products

Polkadot Products are sandboxed applications that run inside a Polkadot Host — either the Polkadot mobile app, Polkadot Desktop, or a web browser. A Product is addressed by its .dot name (via dotNS) and communicates with the Host through the TrUAPI protocol, which handles signing, key management, and data requests.

The user experience follows a three-device pattern called the Triangle: the Phone acts as the key holder (signing transactions), the Desktop serves as the loader and execution environment, and the Web provides lightweight browser access. This means users can interact with Products from any device while their keys stay securely on their phone.

Where it fits: Products are Polkadot’s application model for end users. They replace the traditional app-store paradigm with a decentralized, name-addressed system where the user controls their keys and data.
