The People Chain is a Polkadot system parachain dedicated to decentralized identity management. It allows users to create, manage, and verify on-chain identities that can be used across the entire ecosystem. By centralizing identity storage on a single chain, the People Chain ensures consistent and efficient lookup of identity data without duplicating it across every parachain.

Identity records on the People Chain are associated with a Proof of Personhood (PoP) status, leveraging Ring-VRF technology to verify unique human participants without revealing personal information. This integration supports Sybil-resistant mechanisms in governance, airdrops, and other ecosystem activities while keeping user data private and self-sovereign.

Where it fits: The People Chain is a core system parachain within Polkadot Hub. It provides the identity layer for the whole network, enabling deterministic identity resolution across any connected parachain.
