HOP
HOP is a general-purpose cross-chain protocol that routes assets and messages through intermediate chains in a multi-hop fashion. Instead of requiring a direct connection between every pair of chains, HOP finds and executes a path through the available network topology.
A verifier model guarantees correctness: each hop produces a proof that the next hop can validate before forwarding. The sender commits the intent on the source chain, the protocol routes through intermediate hops with proof verification at each step, and the recipient claims the delivery on the destination chain. This enables trust-minimized cross-chain transfers without requiring a direct bridge for every pair.
Where it fits: Cross-chain asset transfer and message passing between any two chains in the Polkadot ecosystem.
