Agile Coretime is Polkadot’s new model for allocating block-production resources on the relay chain. It replaces the previous parachain slot-auction system with a flexible marketplace where cores are bought and scheduled as needed.

Coretime comes in two forms: bulk coretime (purchased in advance for predictable, long-term usage) and on-demand coretime (bought per-block when sporadic access is enough). This eliminates the friction of winning a multi-month auction and lets teams pay only for what they use.

Where it fits: Agile Coretime makes Polkadot more accessible by lowering the upfront cost of connecting a parachain. Teams can launch with on-demand cores and scale to bulk as they grow.
