dotNS (.dot Names)

dotNS is Polkadot’s naming system, deployed on Asset Hub. It maps human-readable .dot names to on-chain records such as content hashes (contenthash pointing to IPFS CIDs) and associated Product bundle data. Name resolution uses the ERC-1155 standard with namehash derivation, making it compatible with established name-resolution patterns.

Pricing follows the PopRules model — a ladder based on name length and the registrant’s PoP (Proof of Personhood) tier. Shorter names and higher PoP tiers command different price points, creating a fair market for names of varying desirability. Once registered, a .dot name resolves to a Product that any Polkadot Host can load and run.

Where it fits: dotNS provides the addressing layer for the Polkadot Product ecosystem. Every Product needs a .dot name to be discovered, loaded, and updated.
