Dual-VM Smart Contracts

Polkadot Hub runs two virtual machines side by side. REVM executes unmodified Solidity contracts from Ethereum, giving existing dApps a direct migration path. PolkaVM (PVM) runs RISC-V bytecode, offering higher performance and lower gas costs for new or migrated contracts.

The Revive pallet bridges the two environments, allowing EVM contracts compiled through Revive to run on PVM for better efficiency. Developers can choose between ink! (Wasm-native with cross-VM support), standard EVM Solidity (via REVM for maximum compatibility), or PVM Solidity (via Revive for better performance).
